Helping Families Rewire their Neurodivergent Minds
About this event
Helping Families Rewire their Neurodivergent Minds
After laying a brief foundation of Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Executive Function, this workshop introduces the Fundamentals of Integrated NeuroSensory Processing®, a holistic approach that empowers clients and families to understand their neurophysiological "wiring" and develop coping skills, strategies and supports. Clinicians will learn to help clients assess their neurodivergent nervous systems, create strategies and adaptations, which fosters greater independence and reduces reliance on others. This strengths-based framework also enables clinicians to support parents and families in working together more effectively through shared understanding and enhanced skills, moving beyond traditional models to a co-creative approach emphasizing interdependence, self-knowledge, and empathic negotiation.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify the neurophysiological and behavioral features of sensory processing differences in neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan.
2. Describe how the “Window of Tolerance” framework can be applied to promote emotional and sensory regulation within neurodivergent families.
3. Apply a strengths-based therapeutic approach to enhance motivation, resilience, and engagement in neurodivergent clients and their families.
4. Explain ways to integrate sensory, relational, and executive-function strategies to support real-world family functioning and improved outcomes.
